Meet Mrs. Glade

My name is Monica Glade and this will be my fourth year teaching science at North Daviess. I attended Indiana University and received my Bachelor’s degree with a double major in Biology and Germanic Studies. After spending all four years of my undergraduate career working as a research assistant in Dr. Leonie Moyle’s genetics research lab, I felt the need to share my love for science with others. After completing a yearlong transition to teaching program at Indiana University, I was lucky enough to be offered a job at North Daviess. During my first year of teaching, I continued taking classes at IU and received my Master of Science in Education degree at the end of the summer of 2011. I think everyone should strive to be a lifelong learner and I hope to instill my love of exploration and discovery in all of my students.

I currently live in Washington with my husband Dennis and our pack of animals. I think of my pets as my kids, and as a result they are more spoiled than most children. My first fur-baby was Kitty. She is a beautiful white cat with blue eyes who is completely deaf.

After having Kitty for 3 months, I felt the need to get her a friend, so I adopted my orange cat Tiger .

Then came my husband, who also needed a friend, so we got our black cat named Death Star.

After the collection of cats something was still missing so we got a tiny Shih Tzu puppy named Maximus.

Of course one dog would get lonely so soon after Maximus we adopted our German Shepherd Roxy.

Darwin the adventure cat became my companion while my husband Dennis spent the entire summer of 2011 in South Bend working as an intern for the South Bend Tribune.

Once we moved to Washington, we needed just one more addition to complete our family. As huge animal lovers, we knew we had to adopt a Pit Bull. This breed holds a special place in our hearts due to the bad rap they get with the media and the general public. Any intelligent person knows that dogs will fill any role you raise them in, and Toby has proved just that: he is a lover not a fighter.

In addition to spoiling my animals I enjoy adventuring and exploring. I think life is full of lessons to be learned and discoveries to be made, and I’m spending my time doing as much as I can. I enjoy everything.  Jogging, hiking, visiting museums, traveling, reading, going to the opera. If it’s new, I’m in.
