Mrs. Glade’s Acceptable Use Policy

Using the Internet is a privilege and therefore must be treated as such. While NorthDaviess’ Acceptable Use Policy is in-depth and covers a wide variety of issues concerning technology use, there are several key guidelines all students must follow in Mrs. Glade’s classroom:

Acceptable uses of the Internet:
1.     The Internet is to be used as an educational tool for research, communication, and exploration
2.     School email is meant for professional communication and collaboration
3.     Students will be held accountable for all information/messages posted online. Do not use vulgar, rude, or inappropriate language. (Remember if you wouldn’t say it in person, don’t say it online).
4.     All work submitted online through My Big Campus must be the students’ original production (Do not copy anyone else’s work).

Unacceptable uses of Internet:
1.     Your laptop is not a toy; don’t use it to play games.
2.     Social networking sites are prohibited (no Facebook, MySpace, etc.)
3.     YouTube is to be used for educational videos only (No music videos)
4.     If it is illegal in real life, its illegal online as well.

General Guidelines:
1.     Once you post something online, or send a message, it is out in Cyberspace forever and may be forwarded on to many individuals. Think before you post.
2.     Copying another individuals work without giving proper credit is plagiarism. If you didn’t write it, draw it, or create it, don’t post it without a citation.
3.     We are watching you! Everything you type/search/send is being monitored. Use common sense. If it is against the school rules to do in the classroom, don’t do it online either.
4.     If you are caught breaking the rules, your Internet privileges will be revoked.
